360 Degrees of Discussion in Sixth Grade
Students in sixth grade English observed and practiced discussion skills with a “fishbowl” protocol. Five brave “fish” sat in the center of the room to discuss a question from the current book we’re reading in class, The Giver by Lois Lowry while their classmates observed the dynamics of the discussion.
PE Update: Some Pain, A Lot of Gain
When your workplace involves dynamic action, flying projectiles, and blistering speed, there are bound to be some bumps and bruises. Though we never like to see one of our students get hurt, learning to deal with injuries is part of physical education and an opportunity for growth and insight.
The boys’ soccer team traveled to Carroll this week and returned with their first win of the season. After opening their campaign with a close loss to DCD, the team was on the wrong end of some lopsided scores to Park and Pike before turning things around this week.

Seventh grade Spanish students are learning about clothing in the context of Guatemalan culture and traditions. Inspired by the Mayan attire, students designed a style they believe would be a perfect mix of Guatemalan-style clothing and their favorite clothing.

On Tuesday afternoon, the junior varsity flag football team opened up their season with a commanding 28-14 win over Fessenden. Yesterday, the varsity team followed suit with a 32-21 win over Solomon Schechter Day School and improved to 2-0-1 on the season.
Arts Update: Fourth Graders Learn Programming Basics
For the past few weeks students in fourth grade have become familiar with the micro:bit and the programming environment used to control it.
The field hockey team evened their record at 1-1 with an exciting 2-1 win over Park in their home opener this week.
