Annual Fund

Your gift has a direct impact on our students!

Since 1927, our community—faculty, trustees, parents, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, and special friends—have generously supported Belmont Day School and the education it provides for every student. Our students are encouraged to have intellectual curiosity, honor differences, and empower meaningful contribution with excellence, respect, honesty, responsibility, caring, and joy. Throughout our history, Belmont Day has had a strong culture of giving to ensure that it can continue to deliver an education that inspires and challenges our students.

The Belmont Day Annual Fund consists of unrestricted gifts given every academic year by the entire school community to help meet needs in the yearly operating budget. The largest item supported is faculty and staff salaries and benefits, including professional development. In addition, the annual fund provides funds for other needs such as new technology, financial aid, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and new curricula.

The annual fund ensures that educational programs and thoughtful investments in faculty and facilities are maintained and strengthened for future years. The school relies on gifts of all sizes to bridge the gap between what tuition covers and the cost of a Belmont Day education. Your gift has a direct impact on our school and our students.

Last year we received 587 gifts to the Belmont Day Annual Fund totaling $1,227,719 from parents, alumni, grandparents, faculty, foundations, and friends! In recent years our school has received a steady increase in gifts from our alumni, grandparents, and friends. Parent participation in annual giving is consistently high. We are grateful for this incredible community support and commitment to Belmont Day.

Eighth Grade Legacy Gift

The Eighth Grade Legacy Gift is a tradition that provides a meaningful way for eighth grade families to honor their time at Belmont Day. Over the years, many have chosen to make a legacy gift to share their appreciation for their children’s unparalleled education and experience at Belmont Day. This gift also provides an opportunity for our eighth graders to learn about the importance of philanthropy and giving back.

Traditionally our eighth grade families have worked together to decide what the class would support, and in 2019 we created a formal voting process for families to choose the designation. The Class of 2022 raised $220,000 to support faculty excellence and professional development, and the Class of 2021 raised $222,000 to help offset COVID-19 expenses. Other legacy gifts have supported the Claflin field scoreboard, financial assistance, and air conditioning in the Kiva.

This year the Legacy Gift goal for the families of the Class of 2023 is $225,000. This is an opportunity to support Belmont Day by making a gift that makes double the impact—supporting the annual fund and the Eighth Grade Legacy Gift. We ask eighth grade families to prioritize Belmont Day and make their most meaningful gift yet, as they fondly recall their child’s years at Belmont Day and look to leave a lasting legacy for future Belmont Day students to come.
