Admissions Process

Step One: Request Information

Complete our online inquiry form to receive informational materials by mail and email updates about the admissions process and upcoming events.

Step Two: Schedule a Campus Tour

Campus tours, led by volunteer parents and catered to your student’s grade level, are a mandatory part of our process. A tour is the best way to see our teaching and learning in action, meet community members, and get a feel for our campus.

Tours will begin in early October. Students applying to grade 6 or 7 are required to attend the tour with their family. While optional, we do encourage families to bring their upper elementary school students as well, as it’s a great chance for them to see our vibrant community and envision their future here. Tours last 45 to 60 minutes.

At Belmont Day, the interview is not paired with the tour. We intentionally separate these two steps so families can familiarize themselves with our school before having a more in-depth conversation with a member of the admissions team.

Step Three: Submit a Preliminary Application by January 10, 2027

Create a Ravenna account at www.ravenna-hub.com. Once logged in, complete your demographic information, select Boston Area from the regional school drop-down menu, and choose Belmont Day School from the list of schools.

Please complete and submit the preliminary application by our deadline of Sunday, January 10, 2027. The application fee is $50. If the cost is a barrier for your family, please contact the Director of Financial Assistance, Elena Jay, at ejay@belmontday.org to request a fee waiver.

Step Four: Schedule and Complete a Parent/Guardian Interview

After submitting a preliminary application, please email admissions@belmontday.org to schedule a parent/guardian interview. Our interviews are 45 minutes long and conducted over Zoom. Students are not present for these meetings. We recommend that families complete their on-campus tour prior to the interview. We look forward to getting to know more about your student and family.

Step Five: Complete the Application by January 31, 2027

Please ensure all of the following components are completed and submitted through Ravenna by our application deadline of January 31, 2027. More detailed instructions for each component are outlined in Ravenna.

Film and upload the Boston Area Virtual Evaluation (BAVE) videos. Please click here for an overview of the activity and detailed instructions.

Applicants to grade 6 and grade 7

Student questionnaire and essay
Submit either an ISEE or SSAT score report to Belmont Day School. These exams are only offered on a few dates in the fall and winter, so we recommend that you register as soon as possible. For guidance on which test and format is best for your student, we encourage you to review this helpful resource from Admission.org. The cost of the test is usually $150-$250 depending on which testing format you select. If the cost of the test presents a hardship for your family, please reach out to ejay@belmontday.org to inquire about a fee waiver. Step Six: Attend Student Assessment Event(s)

All applicants are required to participate in the following events.

Timing by grade level:
- Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten applicants: 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
- Grades 1 – 5 applicants: 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Grades 6 & 7 applicants: 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Virtual Literacy Evaluation for Applicants to Grades 1 to 5

Grades 1 and 2: Saturday, January 16, 2027 (a 15-minute time slot will be assigned)
Grades 3, 4, and 5: Saturday, January 23, 2027 (a 30-minute time slot will be assigned)
