Laurie's background is in art and photography, which she pursued professionally for 7 years. She’s photographed families, weddings, food, products, and more. Laurie realized how drawn she was to education when she interned at the Eric Carle Museum for Picture Book Art. Witnessing children learn about themselves, each other, and the world around them through books, art, and hands-on activities was so inspiring to her. She never forgot that experience, and that is what ultimately affirmed her decision to become an elementary school teacher.

Three Thoughts:

If I could have dinner with anyone dead or alive who would it be ... my parents and my sister. They live in central New York, so dinners together aren’t as frequent as they used to be!

Three words that describe my work style are ... joyful, dedicated, and thoughtful.
