Three Thoughts:
My Capstone project would be … on Black history in the U.S. and I would love to investigate the correlation between the slave markets and the NFL draft/NBA drafts. I think there are some interesting (and perhaps chilling) similarities to discover.
My favorite children’s book and author … It’s a tie between Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh and The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin.
Someone I admire or consider a hero is … My 18-year-old son, who is transgender. It is an honor to witness him walking through the world with confidence, honesty, and compassion. I so admire his ability to be generous with others, kind, encouraging to all, and fierce in the face of injustice.
