Heather is a graduate of Lesley University with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She is currently enrolled in Lesley’s early childhood education master’s program. She is a certified ESOL instructor with experience teaching adults and children, both in classroom and online contexts. Her classroom teaching has been in private school settings, in which students were exclusively English language learners (ELLs). As she pursues her public school teaching licensure, she looks forward to transitioning her work into inclusive settings where she will be able to teach ELLs and native English speakers together. At the center of her teaching philosophy is the value of creating and maintaining inclusive environments, where her students and their families feel welcomed and supported. Heather is excited to gain experience at Belmont Day School, and learn with and from her cohort of associates, students, and mentor teachers. She has many hobbies, but is particularly passionate about art, nature, and developing her proficiency in Portuguese.
