Athletics Update: Ultimate Teams Battle Hard, Fall Short
Both of Belmont Day’s ultimate teams took to the field on Thursday afternoon and turned in impressive performances. The varsity team squared off against a huge Newton Middle School squad who rolled in with twice as many players as the Blue & Gold.

Athletics Update: Schneider, Treisman, and Ruiz Shine in Win
The girls’ lacrosse team toppled Shady Hill 12-8 in their season opener yesterday. It was a strong performance from the opening draw to the final whistle, as Belmont Day controlled play for the entire game. First year goalie Kamila Ruiz came up huge in net for the home team with 7 saves on the afternoon.

Athletics Update: Ultimate Program Unites
With a slight drop in numbers and only 18 athletes playing ultimate this spring, the program has combined forces for practices. Despite splitting into two separate nine-person squads for game days, head coach Zach d’Arbeloff wanted to unite the program for practice to promote a “one-program” feel and to maximize the opportunities for larger drills, skill stations, and scrimmages.

Athletics Update: Record Numbers for Track & Field
The track & field team rostered a program-record 30 athletes this spring, including 18 sixth grade students. Led by coaches Elinor Hannum, Charlie Baird, and Dani Kelly, the team will compete in eight interscholastic meets this spring.

The Blue & Gold wrestlers had quite a week! With back-back meets against The Fenn School and Lexington Christian Academy, the team emerged with a pair of hard-fought victories, and improved to 3-1 on the season.

In a season marred by cancellations and uneven match-ups, the fencing team finally faced a full team on Thursday afternoon when they squared off against Shady Hill at the Boston Fencing Club. When it was all said and done, the Blue & Gold took 15 of 27 bouts and emerged with a narrow 15-12 victory.

The boys’ JV basketball team had a flair for the dramatic this week with a pair of one-point wins at home against Shady Hill and Dedham Country Day. In back-to-back games, the Blue & Gold trailed by one point with under 30 seconds to play before receiving game-winning shots from Nebiyou Elias and Rhys Kaplan.
