Numbers and Nature 1

This program highlights the amazing intersection of numbers and nature for our youngest campers and newest counters. Using the trails in the woods surrounding campus, children will explore the natural world and experience the excitement of numbers and counting. Led by Belmont Day teachers Larissa Rochford ’93 and Leigh Twarog.

ArtStart

Grades 1 to 4

ArtStart is a week-long creative program for young artists. Children will work in small groups with professional teacher-artists in a variety of arts projects: movement, drama, music, and visual arts. The week will culminate in a special performance on Friday. Stay tuned for this year’s theatrical selection! This program, led by Belmont Day School enrichment specialists Kathy Randall, Valery Marcantonio, and Jessica Cormier, includes recreational activities and a daily swim period.

Children will take a culinary journey around the world exploring Indian, Asian, Italian, and Mexican/South American food. By preparing an assortment of recipes each day, they will develop culinary skills including ingredient, taste, and flavor identification, and knife handling. The school garden will serve as a tool for learning about local and seasonal foods. The program will include a visit to a local farmers' market. A swim lesson and free swim period are part of each day. Led by Belmont Day's head chef Tara Lightbody.

STEM Ozobots

Grades 3 and 4

Former Belmont Day first grade teacher Maria Ramirez, will lead children on a five-day STEM challenge. Campers will learn programming skills using Ozobots, build bridges, create a water slide, design an egg drop, engage in "mystery STEM bag" challenges, and more! This will be a great introduction to robotics, programming, and engineering. Campers will also participate in a swim lesson and free swim period daily.

STEM: Novel Engineering

Grades 1 and 2

What would it take to create a house for the three little pigs that could withstand the the huffing and puffing of the big bad wolf? In this two-week program, campers will read stories and identify challenges for characters and then brainstorm, design, and engineer solutions to overcome the obstacle. They will use a wide range of materials—pipe cleaners, PVC pipes, popsicle sticks, cardboard, cups, recyclables, tape, and anything else that will help them address the problem.  Led by former Belmont Day first grade teacher, Maria Ramirez. Campers will enjoy a swim lesson and free swim block each day.

Leadership and Babysitting

Grades 7 to 9

This program will give participants the opportunity to learn about themselves as a leader and gain American Red Cross Babysitter certification. They will have the opportunity to put their new skills to use in a culminating project with a group of younger campers and enjoy some fun time with peers to celebrate their new knowledge and skills. No application or interview required for this program.

This is a great opportunity for young adolescents who may be interested in preparing for applying to our Future Leaders program. There is no application or interview required for this program.

Brixology: Design, Build, Repeat

Grades 3 to 5

Brixology ​offers activities that engage children in hands-on engineering and the principles of design. Campers will build, test, modify and re-test models made with LEGO® bricks and apply the skills learned to other materials. Led by a MadScience instructor along with support from a Belmont Day camp counselor. A daily swim lesson and free swim block are included.

Summer Institute in Global Leadership: Young Delegates

Grades 5 to 7

Belmont Day is partnering with the United Nations Association of Greater Boston to host the 2019 Summer Institute in Global Leadership: Young Delegates, an exciting week-long introduction to Model UN. This hands-on, interactive program will bring together students from Greater Boston for a deep dive into topics related to the ocean using introductory Model UN as the platform.

Namaste, Nature, and Creativity 

Grades 1 to 3

The days will begin with yoga games and asana practice. Children will take walks in the woods, learn yoga chants, and explore the philosophy and history of yoga in a team-focused way. They will create art inspired by the movement, breathing, and guided resting journey of yoga practice. A free swim period is included every day. A gallery showing for parents will take place on the last day. Led by Belmont Day enrichment specialist Mary Jo Peterman.

Please note: All of our programs close for registration at noon on the Thursday before the session start date, unless the program is already at capacity. Enrollment after this time may be available, but is at the director's discretion and may incur an additional late enrollment fee.

Payment Terms for Specialty and Sports Programs

  • Payment is due in full at the time of enrollment. Participants will not be registered, and have their space guaranteed until payment, in full, is made.
  • Refunds will only be given in the following situations:
    • Medical or family emergency that was unforeseen
    • If cancelation is made at least one month prior to the program’s start date, less a $50 per-week deposit.
