Established in 2003 by a Belmont Day family, the Acorn Endowment supports a unique and central aspect of the Belmont Day curriculum: helping children to become strong citizens and effective leaders in their communities. Belmont Day School has a long history of nurturing community leadership through such activities as student-led community service, interpersonal skills curriculum, faculty development, and service-oriented class trips. Proceeds from the Acorn Endowment will provide consistent funding to support this tradition.
Endowment for Reading and Learning Support
Established in 2003 by a Belmont Day family and expanded in 2016, the Endowment for Reading and Learning Support provides funds for educating teachers about the complexities of the learning and reading process, engaging outside speakers and consultants, investing in materials for students and faculty, and developing learning support and enrichment initiatives.
Financial Aid Endowment
Established in 1994, the Financial Aid Endowment provides financial assistance for families who would otherwise not be able to attend Belmont Day School.
Established in 1994, the General Endowment strengthens the school's financial reserves, providing lasting security for the school and its current programs as well as preparing for future needs.
Lenesa Leana Endowment for Innovative and Collaborative Education
Established in 2011, the Lenesa Leana Endowment for Innovative and Collaborative Education supports the multidimensional ways that our community comes together to explore, develop, and implement innovation, all the while upholding the values at our heart.
Miss Zareen Taj Mirza ’69 Endowment for the Lower School
Established in 2017 by alumna Zareen Taj Mirza ’69, the Endowment for the Lower School provides funds to directly support lower school curriculum and teachers.
Sarah Levine Endowment for Adult and Professional Development (formerly the Faculty Endowment Fund)
Established in 1987 and renamed in 1998, the Sarah Levine Endowment for Adult and Professional Development provides grants to faculty and other adults in the community for continuing education, travel, summer curriculum development, research, and other opportunities for enrichment and personal growth.
Established by the parents of the Class of 2005, the Science Endowment supports the needs of the school's science program, specifically the science laboratory, and ensures the ingenuity and depth of the program.
Teacher of Reading Endowment
Established in 2007 by a Belmont Day School family, the Teachers of Reading Endowment supports teachers trained in Orton Gillingham techniques as they instruct students in their reading classes and in their individual tutoring sessions at school.
Technology Initiative Endowment
Established in 2002 by the Ramsey McCluskey Family Foundation, the Technology Initiative Endowment provides consistent support for the faculty Pioneer Program. These funds also support technology needs in the innovation studio, Palandjian Arts Center, and classrooms.
Tommy Kaplan Library Endowment
Established in 2000 by Nancy and David Kaplan in memory of their son Tommy who would have graduated in the Class of 1981, the Tommy Kaplan Library Endowment provides consistent support for the purchase of library books, periodicals, and curriculum related materials.
Walter Knight Music Endowment
Established in 1988 by an alumna in honor of her music teacher Walter Knight, the Walter Knight Music Endowment supports the salaries of the music faculty and ensures the continued existence of the music program at Belmont Day School.
The Zofnass Family Environmental Sustainability Endowment
Established in 2015 by the Zofnass Family—Paul ’59, Joan ’61, and Emily ‘63—this endowment funds the school's environmental sustainability efforts and supports curriculum in the study of environmental science. The yearly exposure to meaningful projects and annual recognition instills lifelong interest and commitment to the environment by our students. The Zofnass Environmental Award will be announced annually to celebrate a program supported by this endowment.
