Process and Timeline
Step by Step: From Inquiry to Completed Application
At this unprecedented time, Belmont Day remains vigilant about and responsive to changing circumstances and recommendations that impact maintaining the health and safety of our students, families, faculty, and visitors. As a result, some parts of the admissions process may look a little different this fall. We will keep prospective families up-to-date here and by direct communication once you have completed an online inquiry.
To be considered for fall 2021 admission, all applicants should:
Request more information. Complete and submit our online inquiry form to receive an information packet. This formal inquiry will also add you to our mailing list. If you’ve received a packet in the mail, you have successfully completed this step.
Create a Ravenna account. Belmont Day School partners with Ravenna Solutions to provide a complete online application experience for families. Families RSVP for the Open House, register for episodes of our 30-minute Lunchtime Learning webinar series, book virtual interviews, complete and submit forms, pay fees, solicit teacher recommendations, and track receipt of application documents through their own Ravenna parent portal. Visit www.ravenna-hub.com to create an account, select the ‘Greater Boston Region’ and add Belmont Day to your list.
Schedule a parent interview. Please contact us by email at admissions@belmontday.org or call us at 617-932-3884 to schedule this meeting, which is a required step in our admissions process. We look forward to getting to know your family!
Applicants to grades 6-8 ONLY: Belmont Day will accept an official score report for either the ISEE or SSAT exam if a student would like to submit them. We do not, however, require testing to be submitted for the 2020-2021 admissions cycle, nor will we look more or less favorably upon any applicant based on the decision to submit scores or not. Students who would like to submit scores should add Belmont Day School as a recipient of an official score report when they register for the exam. For more information about the exams and to register your child for a test, please visit the ISEE or SSAT websites, but again, submitting test scores is optional this year.
Complete our online application. All priority round applications should be created and submitted through Ravenna by January 11, 2021. The application fee is $50. Please contact the admission office if you would like to request a fee waiver.
Solicit teacher recommendations for submission. All teacher recommendations can be requested through Ravenna. Parents can "delegate" a recommendation form by entering the teacher’s email address. The Ravenna system will then email the form and instructions, allowing teachers to submit online. If your child’s teacher prefers to complete the AISNE teacher recommendation form on paper, please download the appropriate form(s).
- Recommendation Form Pre-k-Grade 1
- Recommendation Form Grades 2-5
- Recommendation Form Math Grades 6-8
- Recommendation Form English Grades 6-8
Request school transcript for submission. Print the records release form from the Ravenna system, sign the form and give it to your child’s teacher, guidance counselor, or school registrar. We ask that your child’s current school send their complete transcript, including any available testing, directly to Belmont Day School.
Register your child for a virtual assessment. All applicants to Belmont Day School are required to participate in an assessment. As part of this year's virtual admissions process, we ask that you download, sign, and return this waiver form which gives permission for the admissions team to interact with your student on virtual platforms. The form should be uploaded to your Ravenna account.
Registration for student assessments will go live in Ravenna on December 1, 2020.
