Camp Kindness a Rousing Success!

First and second graders performed the musical, Camp Kindness, to a packed audience today. This heartwarming story explains that life isn’t easy, especially for kids growing up. Sometimes our fears, circumstances, and limitations can make friendships, learning, expressing, and creating difficult. But as this camp shows, kindness can be the cure to many of life’s challenges. All it takes is some effort, compassion, teamwork, creative thinking, and a whole lot of love and care to make a difference in others’ lives, and hopefully, in the whole world.

Students spent the last month rehearsing and perfecting their lines and actions for the performance. In keeping with theater arts program objectives, the following skills were learned and reinforced during the process:

  • Communication (verbal and non-verbal)
  • Problem-solving
  • Decision-making
  • Social-emotional
  • Movement
  • Risk-taking
