Additional Information

Looking ahead to summer 2023, Belmont Day School will continue to closely adhere to the COVID-19 guidance offered by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Massachusetts Department of Health (MADPH), the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), the Belmont Board of Health, and our internal advisor, Ingrid Katz, MD, MHS.

Our goal is to align our summer policies with the mitigation and response practices utilized during the school year that prove effective. During the 2022-23 school year, we are following DESE’s current guidance for K-12 schools, out-of-school time (OST), and recreational camp programs. We highly recommend, but do not require, up-to-date vaccination against COVID-19.

In the spring, we will communicate COVID-19 protocols to camp families, using the most up-to-date data and guidance to inform our decision-making. To inquire about the COVID-19 protocols that were in place during the summers of 2021 and 2022, please get in touch with us at summer@belmontday.org(link sends e-mail).

All of our programs close for registration at noon on the Thursday before the session start date, unless the program is already at capacity. Enrollment after this time may be available, but is at the director’s discretion and may incur an additional late enrollment fee.

We will also close registration for groups with a waitlist longer than 20 campers, as those waitlists are unlikely to provide availability past that point.

We work hard to be a popular summer program with a great community reputation. Unfortunately, this sometimes means that we have more interest than we can accommodate. If a program is full, you always have the option to add your child to the waitlist. There is no cost and no commitment required to join the waitlist, but CampMinder will ask for payment information.

Your child can get off of one of our wait lists in two ways:

  • If a camper withdraws and a space is opens up
  • If staffing and physical space allows, we will add more spots in a given program

If a spot has opened for your child, we will contact you via email. Depending on the time of year this occurs, you will be given a deadline to respond and accept the space.

Morning Extended Day – Drop-off as early as 7:45 a.m.

  • $50 per two-week session or $25 per week – pro-rated to $20 for Session A2 (camp is closed for Independence Day)

Afternoon Extended Day – Pick-up as late as 5:30 p.m.

  • $300 per two-week session – pro-rated for Session A2 (camp is closed for Independence Day) and D (no extended day on Friday, August 18)
  • Camp Multi-Week Discount – applicable to sessions B, C, and D
  • 8% off your total bill if you enroll in 6 weeks of camp
  • Take an additional $400 off your total bill if you are enrolling for all 8 weeks of camp
  • Sibling Discount – $25 off per child when two or more children are enrolled – applicable to all sessions

There is a one-time, $50 per camper enrollment fee. This fee is waived if you enroll by Friday, February 24, 2023.

Payment is due based on the following schedule:

25% due upon enrollment until April 15
50% of balance due April 15, or upon enrollment between April 15 and May 15
75% of balance due May 15, or upon enrollment between May 16 and June 15
100% of balance due before June 15, or upon enrollment after June 15
CampMinder allows you to keep a card on file that we will charge for you at these payment deadlines.

We are willing to work with any family on payment plans if this schedule does not work for you. Please contact the Director of Summer Programs Zach d’Arbeloff(link sends e-mail) to establish a payment plan that will ensure your tuition is paid by your child’s first day of camp.

Refunds will be given as follows:

Full refunds are only given in the case of a medical or family emergency that was unforeseen regardless of the date of the event.

Partial refunds may be available as follows:

  • $100 per two-week session administrative fee is non-refundable until May 1
  • 25% per session is non-refundable after May 1
  • Tuition is not refundable within two weeks of the session start date

School extension for snow days:
In the event that school runs later than expected because of snow days or other missed days, Belmont Day will prorate a session for the days that school is still in session provided the family decides to attend school and not camp.

  • Payment is due in full at the time of enrollment. Participants will not be registered, and have their space guaranteed until payment, in full, is made.
  • Refunds will only be given in the following situations:
    • Medical or family emergency that was unforeseen
    • If cancelation is made at least one month prior to the program’s start date, less a $50 per-week deposit.
