Welcome to the middle school at Belmont Day School! Here, you will find our students actively engaged in shaping and advancing their own development. Every day they immerse themselves in the exciting journey through their adolescent years. Their minds are in the moment, experiencing joy and doing hard work, with the long-term goal of preparing for high school.
The adults in our community love the middle school years and are deeply committed to making them positive and rewarding. Our faculty and staff carefully consider the diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences of our students to inform curriculum and guide programming. They meet our students where they are and respect the unique profile that each child brings to our school. Our program is designed to be student-centered, responsive, and aimed at developing the whole child, while also preparing each student for success in the next chapter of their education.
Middle school is all about trying things on. At Belmont Day, we encourage students to try on new pieces of their identity, whether it be in the classroom, on the sports field, through a new artistic endeavor, or any other of the many opportunities they enjoy in their school day. They feel safe to take those essential and calculated risks—socially, emotionally, and intellectually—that serve as the cornerstones of growing up. Their discoveries are exhilarating.
Our students regularly identify and practice a common vision of Belmont Day’s core values: honesty, caring, joy, responsibility, respect, and excellence. As they explore their interests and take risks, the core values guide everything they do, from their daily interactions with one another, to defining their goals for the future. As they leave us, they go away both sturdy and inspired. Not only are they equipped with the academic skills necessary to take on high school, but also the compassion, drive, and integrity to work lifelong to better the world around them.
Because words cannot do justice to the energy, focus, and accomplishment that are evident every day, we invite you to visit us and see it in action!
