Discoveries at Belmont Day is an enriching after school program that extends the safe and supportive environment designed to encourage the growth and development of our students beyond the school day. The games, crafts, play, and friendships that occur within the program are shaped by the school’s values of honesty, caring, joy, responsibility, respect, and excellence.
The program is open to students in all grades and operates from 3:30 to 5:45 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and from 12:30 to 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Final dismissal takes place at 5:45 pm. Children enrolled in after school attend on a regular basis. Parents must enroll in advance for each trimester for one to five afternoons per week. A snack and beverage are provided daily.
Parents in need of unexpected child care assistance may use after school, for a fee, on an emergency basis. Parents complete a dismissal change form with the receptionist and include payment.
After school activities may include:
- thematic art projects
- seasonal sports
- community service
- nature study
- science projects
- study hall
- creative dramatics
- unstructured supervised play
- field trips
Students enjoy outdoor activities on Big Blue, our three playing fields, outdoor tennis courts, and in the surrounding woods. We also make use of the gymnasium, media lab, Erskine Library and Palandjian Arts Center. Special programs are offered on parent conference days. Check the Belmont Day calendar for details.
