Introducing Veracross and Magnus Health

The Veracross Parent Portal is the new password-protected home for directories, report cards, forms, conference sign-ups, and more. Many features will be launched over the summer and by the first day of school. Other features will be rolled out over the course of the 2020-2021 school year. Magnus Health is a well-known healthcare management system for schools. Like Veracross, the Magnus Health SMR (Student Medical Record) is a web-based system, so parents will have continuous access to their child’s health record and the ability to make updates when needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I access the Veracross Portal?

Click “Communities” and then “Parents” from the navigation menu of this website or go directly to https://portals.veracross.com/belmontday. We recommend that you bookmark the site for easy access.

Can I access the Veracross Portal on my mobile device?

Yes, the Veracross portal is available via a web browser on mobile devices.

I forgot my password. How can I reset it?

Click the “Can’t access your account?” link on the portal sign-in screen and follow the prompts.

How do I update my contact information?

Click the “Family Information Form” button on the portal homepage.

Do I need to enter information in both Veracross and Magnus Health?

Parent/guardian demographic information including name, phone numbers, address, and email address are entered within Veracross and this information will sync to Magnus Health. Emergency contacts entered in Veracross do not sync to Magnus at this time.

How do I access the Magnus Health portal and the app?

To get started with Magnus Health, check out this introductory video.

To sign in to the Magnus Health Portal using a web browser:

Log in to the Veracross Parent Portal, click the Magnus Health button, and use your Veracross username and password to sign in. 

To use the the Magnus Mobile v2 app:

  1. Log in to Magnus via a web browser as described above
  2. Hover over your name within Magnus at the top left of screen
  3. Choose "Change Credentials"
  4. Create a username and password that only you know and will remember; this username/password combination will be used as your mobile app login only. The mobile app does not work with the Veracross single sign-on
  5. Download the Magnus Health mobile app from the App Store or Google Play

Families will use the Magnus Health app daily to report their child’s temperature check and to complete a COVID-symptom question list. The completed questionnaire must be submitted prior to 7:30 am. daily. If it is not, the student will be screened by the school nurse before entering their classroom.

The questions will include:

  1. What is your student's temperature?
  2. Is your student experiencing any of the following?
  • headache
  • body aches
  • fatigue not explained by other circumstances
  • runny nose or congestion not explained by allergies
  • cough (different from baseline if your child has asthma
  • shortness of breath
  • nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
  • new loss of taste or smell
I am having trouble accessing Magnus Health App on my mobile device.

Accessing the Magnus Health app requires a unique username and password that is different from the username and password for accessing Magnus Health from a desktop browser. Also, make sure the app is updated to the latest version on your mobile device.

Why don’t I see any events when I click My Calendar?

The Veracross calendars are not currently used. Instead, all school events are posted on the school’s public website at belmontday.org/calendar.

What is the Messages page? How does it work?

The portal’s “Messages” feature works as an archive of emails that have been sent to you via Veracross distribution lists (aka system-generated email lists). More messages will be archived here as Belmont Day begins to use Veracross as our primary email service. This will allow you to refer back to important messages without needing to search your email inbox. 

The Messages page does not display emails that were not sent via the Veracross system. For example, if a teacher replied to an email you sent them, their email would not be archived here.

What security measures are taken to protect personal information and other data?
  • You have your own unique username and password. Make sure you choose a password that is hard to guess and never share your login credentials with others, including your child.
  • The information for each student is visible only to the parents or guardians with whom Belmont Day has been authorized to share it. Other Belmont Day families, and the public, cannot see information specific to your child (e.g. report cards, attendance).
  • Directory information is only visible to the Belmont Day School community (current parents, faculty, and staff). It is not visible to the public.
  • Veracross undergoes an annual independent audit of their privacy practices and follows industry-leading principles for maintaining subjects’ privacy.

How to Safe-list an Email Address or Domain in Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo! Mail

Gmail
Mark as Not Spam

  • Navigate to the spam folder
  • Search for emails containing the domain you wish to approve (veracross.com)
  • Select all the emails shown
  • Click More and then Not spam

Create a filter

  • Click the cog icon in the top-right corner, and then Settings
  • Click on Filters and then Create a new filter
  • Enter the domain of the email you want to approve in the From field
  • Click Create filter with this search
  • In the box headed "When a message arrives that matches this search" select "Never send it to spam"
  • Click the Create filter button

Outlook (and Windows Live Mail, Hotmail and MSN Mail)

  • Click the cog icon in the top-right corner and then More mail settings
  • Select Safe and blocked senders and then Safe senders
  • Add add the domain of the email you want to approve to the list of Safe senders
  • Return to Safe and blocked senders and then select Safe mailing lists

Yahoo! Mail
Create a filter

  • Mouse over the Settings menu icon and select Settings
  • Click Filters and then Add
  • Enter a Filter Name
  • Either
    • enter the domain of the email you want to safe-list in the Sender field
    • select Inbox as the folder to deliver the email to
  • Click Save and then click Save again
