Admissions Process and Timeline

Step by Step

To be considered for fall 2018 admission, all applicants should complete the following steps:

Request more information. Complete and submit our online inquiry form to receive an information packet. This formal inquiry will also add you to our monthly e-newsletter mailing list. If you’ve received a viewbook packet in the mail, you have successfully completed this step.

Create a Ravenna account. Belmont Day School partners with Ravenna Solutions to provide a complete online application experience for families. Families RSVP for the open house, register for episodes of our 30-minute Lunchtime Learning webinar series, book parent tours and interviews, complete and submit forms, pay fees, solicit teacher recommendations, and track receipt of application documents through their own Ravenna parent portal. Visit to create an account, select the ‘Greater Boston Region’ and add Belmont Day to your list.

Schedule a parent visit. This parent-only visit includes a 30-minute interview with a member of our admissions staff, as well as a personalized tour through our classrooms and community spaces. Our 90-minute parent visits occur between September and December. Log-in to your Ravenna account to book your visit.

Take a standardized test—applicants to grades 5-8 only (ISEE or SSAT). Applicants must take one of these exams by January 12. Please designate Belmont Day School as a recipient of an official score report.

Complete our application—online submission preferred—by January 10. All applications should be created and submitted through Ravenna by January 10, 2018. The application fee is $50.00. Please contact the admission office if you would like to request a fee waiver. Applications received after January 10 will be considered in our late pool.

Solicit teacher recommendations for submission by January 12. All teacher recommendations can be requested through Ravenna. Parents can "delegate" a recommendation form by entering the teacher’s email address. The Ravenna system will then email the form and instructions, allowing teachers to submit online. We ask that forms be delegated between November 1 and January 1 and submitted by January 12. If your child’s teacher prefers to complete the AISNE teacher recommendation form on paper, please download the appropriate form(s).

Request school transcript for submission by January 12. Print the records release form from the Ravenna system, sign the form and give it to your child’s teacher, guidance counselor, or school registrar. We ask that your child’s current school send his or her complete transcript, including any available testing, directly to Belmont Day School.

Attend the student visit. All applicants to Belmont Day School are required to participate in a student visit as part of the application process. Once you have submitted the application form online, you can register your child for the visit through Ravenna.
