Track & Field Shines
in First Meet in BDS History

Girls' Track and Field Relay

The Belmont Day Track and Field team made history last week by competing in its first interscholastic meet. Even though the program is in its inaugural season, the team managed to draw 25 athletes from the seventh and eighth grades. The BDS girls stole the show at The Carroll School with first-place finishes in seven of the eight events.

A seventh grader and fall season cross country star transitioned to track without missing a beat, taking first place in the mile (6:58), the 800 (3:12), and the 4x200 relay (2:17). Joining her with three first-place finishes was an eighth grade soccer and basketball standout who won the 50 (7.14), the 200 (32.43), and the 4x200 relay (2:17). Another eighth grader also chipped in with two first places of her own. With such fierce competitors and talented athletes, the track and field program looks to begin a successful BDS tradition.

Students and Tangrams

This summer BDS will introduce Count & Calcul8 - a new program dedicated to providing review, support, and enrichment of math curriculum taught in grades three, four, and five.

Daily lessons will be tailored to fit the individual needs of each participant. This hands-on, multisensory approach to math instruction will integrate art and technology into daily activities. The program will also feature daily swim lessons and a free swim period in the afternoon.
