This program highlights the amazing intersection of numbers and nature for our youngest campers and newest counters. Using the trails in the woods surrounding campus, children will explore the natural world and experience the excitement of numbers and counting. Led by Belmont Day teachers Larissa Rochford ’93 and Leigh Twarog.

ArtStart

Grades 1 to 4

ArtStart is a week-long creative program for young artists. Children will work in small groups with professional teacher-artists in a variety of arts projects: movement, drama, music, and visual arts. The week will culminate in a special performance on Friday. Stay tuned for this year’s theatrical selection! This program, led by Belmont Day School enrichment specialists Kathy Randall, Valery Marcantonia, and Jessica Cormier, includes recreational activities and a daily swim period.

Future Filmmakers

Grades 5 to 8

Explore the exciting world of movie­making, learn about key jobs, and how to work as a team to achieve a final product. Each child will participate in pre-production, production, and post-production activities including: storyboarding as a group and developing a shooting schedule, designing sets and selecting locations, auditions and casting, shooting the script, recording sound effects, sound tracking the film, editing scenes to create the final short film, and creating graphics for the marketing and packaging of the film. Led by Belmont Day enrichment specialist Jessica Web.

Children will take a culinary journey around the world exploring Indian, Asian, Italian, and Mexican/South American food. By preparing an assortment of recipes each day, they will develop culinary skills including ingredient, taste, and flavor identification, and knife handling. The school garden will serve as a tool for learning about local and seasonal foods. The program will include a visit to a local farmers' market. A swim lesson and free swim period are part of each day. Led by Belmont Day's head chef Tara Lightbody.

Create and Calcul8

Grades 2 to 4

Create & Calcul8 provides review, support, and enrichment of math
curriculum taught in grades two, three, and four. Lessons will be
tailored to fit the individual needs of each child. This hands-on, multisensory approach to math instruction integrates art and technology into daily activities. Children will reinforce their understanding of skills and content as they gain mathematical confidence in a fun and supportive environment. A daily swim lesson and free swim period are included.

Curtain Up!

Grades 3 and up

Children will create and debut an original play during this 2-week performance program that emphasizes ensemble work while also showcasing the strengths of each participant. The theme will be determined by the group. Explorations will include the foundations of acting—analysis, character development, voice and movement—improvisation, and costume, prop, and set design. A swim lesson and free swim period are part of each day. This program is taught by a Belmont Day enrichment specialist and Alexander-trained actress Jessica Webb.

Building Readers, Building Robots

Grades 2 and 3

Reading, coding, building, and performing will all be part of the fun! Children will spend the morning building literacy skills through interactive read-alouds, reader’s theater, individual exploration, and writing by delving into fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. In the afternoon, they will build robots from LEGOs, craft supplies, and recycled materials and learn programming with KIBO and LEGO WeDo 2.0 robotics kits. The second week will feature a dramatic robot performance of scenes from their literary explorations. A swim lesson and free swim period are part of each day. This program is taught by Belmont Day enrichment specialist Megan Recupero.

Namaste, Nature, and Creativity 

Grades 1 to 3

The days will begin with yoga games and asana practice. Children will take walks in the woods, learn yoga chants, and explore the philosophy and history of yoga in a team-focused way. They will create art inspired by the movement, breathing, and guided resting journey of yoga practice. A free swim period is included every day. A gallery showing for parents will take place on the last day. Led by Belmont Day enrichment specialist Mary Jo Peterman. 

Extended day is available, Monday to Thursday.

Please note: All of our programs close for registration at noon on the Thursday before the session start date, unless the program is already at capacity. Enrollment afterthis time may be available, but is at the Director's discretion and may incur an additional late enrollment fee.

Payment Terms for Specialty and Sports Programs

  • There is a one-time, $40 per camper enrollment fee. This fee is waived if you enroll prior to February 27, 2017.
  • Payment is due in full at the time of enrollment.
  • Participants will not be registered, and have their space guaranteed until payment, in full, is made.
  • Refunds will only be given in the following situations: Medical or family emergency that was unforeseen; or if cancelation is made at least one month prior to the program’s start date, less a $50 per-week deposit.
