SUMMER PROGRAM

A Note from the Director

As we settle into 2010, summer planning has kicked into high gear.  Applications have been rolling in, we have heard from many staff members who plan to return, and our summer administrative team has started meeting monthly to plan all aspects of Summer Session.  In the coming months, we will determine and incorporate themes for the summer, organize groups for each grade level, design our t-shirt, plan our orientation training for staff, and much more!

There are a number of unique ways that a summer experience can impact a child. Summer Session offers children increased opportunities for growth - socially, emotionally and physically, time to reflect on choices and interests, and the freedom to explore friendships and meet new people.

With this in mind, our goal is to strengthen our existing programs through increased focus on the ways in which our programs bolster the intangible aspects of your child’s growth. We strive to provide a variety of opportunities for leadership, to help children develop problem-solving skills, and to boost their self-esteem.

In addition to our increased focus on our philosophical mission, we have one new program to introduce this year: Go!Basketball. This one-week program aims to develop skills and foster a love for the game. The program is run by John O’Neill, Director of Athletics at Belmont Day School.

If you are new to Belmont Day School, welcome. We would love to have you visit us, see our facilities and hear what a summer at BDS is all about! We are more than happy to schedule a tour for you at a time that works with your schedule. Please call us to make an appointment.
