The Program
Play with verse, character, and the world of Shakespeare and
his plays! This program allows every child to explore living, breathing Shakespeare
in a safe, fun, and engaging ensemble environment. The program features games,
monologues, stage combat, and scene work led by classically-trained teaching
artists. A daily swim period rounds out the day!
Creative Director
Belmont Day School’s theatre programs are led by director Joy Lamberton, Ed.M., Harvard GSE and MCC Creative Teaching Partner, who brings to BDS her love of theatre and experiences at independent and public schools and theatres throughout New England. Joy’s collaborators include: Shakespeare & Company, Stoneham Theatre, Watertown Children's Theatre, PALS Children's Chorus, Publick Theatre, Shakespeare Now!, Saratoga Shakespeare Co. Inc., American Repertory Theatre, Boston and Brookline Public Schools and the Fayerweather Street School.
