our school unique.

We are a community filled with intellectually curious people who are excited
about all the ways children learn and develop. Who am I? Who are you? Who are we?
These are questions all of our students investigate, from the pre-kindergartners
who learn about themselves and their peers during Wednesday Friends Day and walks
in the woods to our fifth graders who analyze themselves as learners to our eighth
graders who select a research topic that capitalizes on their strengths.

We are a community that comes together frequently in Friday Sharing Assemblies,
cross-graded activities, parent forums, athletic games, and class
plays. Students learn to communicate clearly in front of an audience and on the
playing field at an early age, to evaluate the factors that enter into an excellent
performance, and to celebrate one another's accomplishments.

We are a community that encourages service to others as a pathway to self-awareness,
fellowship, and understanding. Students take May baskets to neighbors, write memoirs for
their elder partners,
prepare meals for Rosie's Place, participate in the Walk for Hunger, and organize UNICEF,
clothing, and food drives. |
From its beginnings in 1927, Belmont Day School has been a place where faculty and
parents work together to provide a rich educational program that rests on the core
values of respect, responsibility, honesty, caring, joy, and excellence. Please come
see us in our newly expanded building, surrounded by trees and visited frequently by
our resident red-tailed hawk. We look forward to meeting you!
